Salem County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management
OPEN HOUSE
Woodstown, NJ – Salem County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will hold an open house at the OEM Building, 135 Cemetery Road, Woodstown, NJ on June 20, 2017 at 6:00 pm.
The Office of Emergency Management will hold an open house on the above date. This is an opportunity for the public to come in and see the Emergency Operations Center. Representatives from County and State OEM will be available to answer questions about preparedness and what happens during an emergency.
The County OEM is the hub of emergency response activity before, during, and after an emergency in Salem County. Before an event OEM employees and representatives from various other agencies and departments spend time planning and preparing from an “All Hazards” perspective. Plans are created, updated and tested regularly to assure that they are as up to date as possible. Training is conducted and exercises are used to test capabilities. During an emergency the OEM serves as a central resource for Police, Fire, EMS, public works, transportation providers and other agencies in the private sector who provide critical services. When the emergency is over, the OEM works to restore the County to its prior state. If damages reach the level of a disaster declaration, OEM gathers data and damage costs to assist in getting residents and government entities funding if it becomes available.
Sheriff Charles M. Miller stated, “It is hoped that through this open house of the OEM Center residents will gain a much better understanding of the diligent work that goes on behind the scenes by our emergency preparedness professionals and have the confidence that they are being protected in the best way possible. Please come out and see firsthand how our county prepares itself to handle all forms of emergencies and meet some of the individuals that work behind the scene.”
